ONLINE 2019 Special Population Callers

Lesson Purpose:  To enhance the telecommunicator’s knowledge in order to properly process calls for service from special population callers.

Training Objectives:  At the end of this block of instruction, the participant will be able to achieve the following objectives in accordance with the information presented during the instructional period:

1.  Assess ways to communicate with children during a crisis.  

2.  Identify barriers to effective communication when handling special concerns for the elderly.

3. Identify challenges the telecommunicator encounters when dealing with individuals with mental illness.

4. Examine the telecommunicator’s role in identifying the needs of the deaf and hard of hearing community.
