Pitt Community College Law Enforcement Training Division
This course is primarily geared toward detecting, apprehending, and prosecuting the drugged impaired driver. The current approved curriculum involves a minimum two-day (16 hours) training program. Prior to beginning the training program, students should have an interest in traffic law enforcement with an emphasis on DWI. Students must have attended and successfully completed a minimum three-day (24 hours) NHTSA approved SFST training prior to attending ARIDE training.
Students must have completed this 24-hour SFST training or an approved SFST Refresher training within the two years prior to the approved 16-hour classroom ARIDE training.
The 16-hour classroom ARIDE course will serve as a prerequisite for law enforcement officers to attend the DRE Training. Any person(s) attending this course must show proficiency in the SFST battery and be signed off by a designated DRE/SFST Instructor.
Upon completion of this classroom training, the student must pass a comprehensive written examination and successfully complete an SFST proficiency examination witnessed by a DRE/SFST instructor.
