Pitt Community College Law Enforcement Training Division
Lesson Purpose: To inform law enforcement professionals of current criminal trends in North Carolina, to include the proliferation of and the common dangers associated with gangs and extremist groups in North Carolina. Additionally, law enforcement will be presented with some of the current drug trends occurring in North Carolina.
Training Objectives: At the end of this block of instruction, the participant will be able to achieve the following objectives in accordance with the information presented during the instructional period:
1. Examine current North Carolina drug trends and identify associated potential hazards to law enforcement.
2. Differentiate between various types of gang, anti-government, criminal, and extremist groups present in North Carolina along with the dangers they pose.
3. Identify the purpose and goals of law enforcement information collection and sharing available resources.
*This course has been approved by North Carolina Sheriff's Standards Commission for detention officer and telecommunicator in-service topic of choice.*
