ONLINE 2018 Strategies to Improve Law Enforcement Interactions and Relationships With Minority Youth

 

 

Lesson Purpose: To increase an officer’s awareness when interacting with juveniles.

 

Training Objectives: At the end of this block of instruction, the participant will be able to achieve the following objectives in accordance with the information presented during the instructional period:

  1. Examine factors influencing minority juvenile decision-making.
  2. Identify effective communication skills when interacting with juveniles.
  3. Examine techniques for defusing and de-escalating situations with anxious or defiant youth.

 

*This course has been approved by North Carolina Sheriff's Standards Commission for detention officer and telecommunicator in-service topic of choice.*

 

Hours/Credits: Two (2)
