This one day 6 hour course is designed to improve officer safety and performance, while reducing agency liability and repair costs due to poor or untrained use of motorcycles in police operations. This course is intended for trained and certified police motorcycle officers, who seek to enhance his/her skills, enhance safety on the road, and learn how to better control a police motorcycle when performing emergency maneuvers.
Training is skills-based and physically demanding.
Training Site Accessibility
Though presented in controlled traffic areas, training is often within view of both public and private property. T-Shirts, clothing, or property depicting inappropriate or offensive material is not permitted at the training site. Pitt Community College instructors are the final authority regarding the suitability, and/or appropriateness of equipment, and attire. (Please see additional information provided below concerning the training location.)
Course Equipment & Materials
MOTORCYCLES ARE NOT PROVIDED! Students are required to ride their department issued/assigned motorcycle during training. Motor units must be well maintained and in good working order!
Students are REQUIRED to bring the following to class:
- A valid, unrestricted motorcycle endorsement from student’s state of residence. (Instruction and other types of temporary or provisional permits will not be accepted.)
- Eyewear (wrap-around lenses recommended)
- Full-fingered gloves
- Above the ankle lace up boots
- DOT or SNELL certified helmet ("3/4 Shell" recommended)
Optional Equipment & Materials
It is recommended that students bring the following to class:
- Leather or Kevlar jacket
- Other desired protective clothing
- Rain Gear

Cost: free for sworn NC law enforcement officers, $70 for out of state law enforcement officers
Date: Monday, November 4, 2019
Time: 10:00 am – 5:00 pm with a 1 hour lunch break
Location: Pitt Greenville Airport, 400 Airport Road, Greenville, NC 27834 (class will meet in the National Guard Armory parking lot located at 1401 N. Memorial Drive, Greenville, NC at 9:45 am, all students must enter the airport with the instructor at 10:00 am, no exceptions)
With the exception of dangerous conditions, students will ride rain or shine.
