11/2-6/2020 - Crisis Intervention Team Training for LAW ENFORCEMENT Officers


This 40-hour (five 8 hour days, 8am-5pm) course is taught in cooperation with NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) and Trillium Health Resources. This course will certify officers as a Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Officer and prepare them to respond to mental health calls through the knowledge gained about persons with mental illnesses, addictive disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities, and dementia. De-escalation skills will be taught to deal with various situations in the field.


Persons authorized for eligible fee-waived training include: 1. Individuals who are Criminal Justice Officers, as defined in G.S. 17C-2 (3) and G.S. 17E-2 (3), with titles to include law enforcement officer, deputy sheriff, detention officer, and (sheriff's) telecommunicator. Also, the Sheriff and Reserve Officers.  2. Municipal, county, or state public safety dispatcher/telecommunicaor. Persons not eligible for state fee-waiver will be responsible for tuition in the amount of $125.00.
