11/12-14/2019 - Urban Carbine 1

This 24 hour/credit course provides an introduction to the AR platform weapon system for the beginning and intermediate student. The class will cover basic skills and knowledge to prepare the officer/deputy/agent to effectively understand, maintain, and employ the carbine.  Topics covered include: weapon/ballistic theory, maintenance/cleaning, dressing the weapon to the shooter, zeroing both back up iron sights (BUIS) and electronic optics, shooting from various shooting positions, addressing weapon’s malfunctions, secondary transitions, communication while operating the carbine, and employing the carbine from the patrol vehicle.  Students will fire during daylight, low light, and no light shooting hours.

Ammunition/Equipment Requirements

500 rounds rifle / 150 rounds handgun

Rifle with Sling and white light mandatory

Issued duty gear with handgun

Eye and ear protection
