Pitt Community College Law Enforcement Training Division
This 100 hour/credit course is designed to provide a comprehensive and in-depth examination of the complex issues of law enforcement/detention management. This course will expose students to innovative instructors and curriculum which will stimulate debate and problem solving strategies. Program modules are conducted by successful professionals who are leaders in their discipline.
Topics include; Leadership Essentials, Ethics, The Role of the Manager, Human Relations, Legal Issues, Media Relations, Budgeting, Grant Writing for Managers, Change Management, and Effective Presentation Development. (FYI, Capstone projects will not be required in this course; however, the third level course entitled "Executive Leadership & Management Development" will require a Project Presentation) ***
Classes will be held Monday-Friday 8am-5pm with additional homework requirements. This course is a pre-requisite for our 140 hour/credit Executive Leadership and Management Development course. Successful completion of a First Line Supervision course is a pre-requisite. Certificates issued from any community college law enforcement training program and/or North Carolina Justice Academy will be recognized with appropriate documentation.
