Please consider hosting two to four “Netters” in your home. Year after year, families rave about the wonderful experience of having these young people touch their family life.
The NET (National Evangelization Teams) team (“Netters”) help to bring faith from the “head to the heart” and integrate it in every aspect of a student’s daily life by sitting in on classes, inviting students to participate in small groups or large events, and one on one relational ministry. At Providence Academy we are blessed to have eight Net Team members serve our community.
The need for host families exists because NET team members spend a year away from their own families to share their faith with Providence Academy students. Host families do not need to worry about having enough beds for the team members they host. Every team member has his or her own sleeping bag and pillow, so floors, couches, or air mattresses work just fine. Host families can provide a home away from home for two to four of PA’s NET team men or women. Hosting obligations are generally for two weeks and are scheduled in advance. General hosting responsibilities include:
Breakfast: At your house (which can be as simple as leaving out cereal and milk)
Lunch: Do not need to provide as they will eat school lunch
Dinner: Pack a bag for them to eat during evening activities at school and make dinner 2-3 nights a week at home
Host families also host Family Nights where they will eat dinner in your home, with your family. These nights can be as formal or casual as works for your family. Some families cook a big meal and eat all together with the Netters while others just order a pizza or leave food in the fridge for the NET team to eat when they get home. Your obligation is definitely NOT to entertain them on these nights. The intent is to ensure Netters are spending some evenings in your home, for those families who would like to spend time with them.
The team provides their own transportation and do not need to rely on your family for taking them to and from their events or ministry.
