Green Up day is now May 30. Let's hope that this postponement will work for our community and our health, the health of all Vermonters and others throughout the world will get relief in these uncertain times.
Please do the electronic sign-up for your favorite road (if you are particular and feel strongly about this). Feel free to sign up for more than one route. The bags will be available on the porch of the Town Clerk's Office beginning Saturday, May 23.
May 30 details: 9 am to noon, a small crew will be in the Town Garage work yard (behind the fire house in Huntington Center). Please follow the directional indicators to drive in and unload your vehicle into the town trucks
We will not have the anticipated snacks and beverages, traditionally supplied by the Selectboard, because things have changed this spring and the goal is to get the Green-Up volunteers in and out as quickly and smoothly as possible (although we will greet you with a smile in our eyes because you won't be able to see our gleaming teeth behind our masks).
The 50th Birthday Celebration of Green Up Day with activities and some special treats will have to wait until a safer time, too.
Finally, thanks to the Cub Scouts who would have been there to help with everything. We all agree that the kids need to not be as involved this year (they can do Green Up with their families). Things will get back on track next year.
Thanks very much, in advance, for your participation - and for your role in making the roads and public areas clear of trash in our beautiful town.
