Given the impending cold front and snow fall our area is expecting, we will be opening an emergency daytime warming shelter for the next 10 days. Since we are already sheltering at the Sallal Grange in North Bend at night, the majority of the daytime warming shelter will occur there.
We will have at least one trained staff member on duty during the day, but could use help with keeping the kitchen running smoothly. We are stocked with easy to prepare meals, like pasta & sauce, tacos, frozen lasagne, and sandwhich bars. Volunteers can also help by restocking supplies and maybe shoveling snow.
Shifts are scheduled around meal times. Times are suggested - it would be great if you arrived no more than half hour earlier or later. Last minute sign ups are welcome :)
When signing up, please consider if you will be able to get to the shelter location if there is snow and ice on the roads. We are hoping to have a 4x4 shuttle service available, but are still working out the details with a 4x4 club. If you think you might want someone to drive you to and from the shelter, please call/text Trissa at 425-223-2085 to make arrangements.
We want everyone to be safe, so when the time comes if you feel it isn't safe to come in, please stay home and call/text Tiphanie at 425-773-2874 so she can give staff the heads up.
You do not have to have gone through volunteer orientation to help during this time, but we will ask you to read and sign a confidentiality agreement. Children of all ages are welcome, but must be supervised by an adult at all times. We'll have enough work for 1-2 adults each shift; only 1 person from your family needs to sign up. Please check in with staff at the registration desk when you arrive.
