Hello Band Parents,
We are in need of pit crew volunteers for each of our home games and competitions.The primary job of the pit crew is to help move front ensemble equipment and props to the field, stand by to help the students set up as needed, and then move the equipment off the field in a timely manner. This is such an important job and we hope you are able to help!
We will need pit crew volunteers to arrive approximately 30 minutes prior to th e start of the game to meet the coordinator and make any last minute adjustments. They will meet again about 15 minutes before half time, and will be done shortly after the half time performance. Please text Joe Potter when you sign up for pit crew so he can provide you more detailed information 703-786-0125.
We are also in need of driver volunteers.
1. We will need drivers to drive the 26' rental truck (needing a driver and an assitant driver) during the band competitions and during VBODA. No special driver's license is needed. The driver(s) should be able to: safely drive and park a 26' truck, assist with picking up the truck on the Friday evenings prior to competitions (needs to be picked up by 4pm at Ryder truck in Lorton), be willing to arrive early to school the day of competitions to assist with loading, return the truck to the school after the competitions to unload the truck, return the truck that evening to the rental location (Ryder truck in Lorton).
2. We will also need 6 drivers for each of the away games who can use their own vehicles to transport the bulky instruments. This will involve meeting the buses at the school prior to the game so the students can load your vehicle for you (may be helpful to have some blankets to protect the instruments from scratching anything in your car). Then you can follow the bus to the game and the kids will again unload your vehicle. Repeat the process at the end of the game as well.
