WSHS Band Boosters
There are 3 areas for volunteers: Pit crew* & Prop crew*
*You can sign up for either Pit crew or Props crew at a single event but you cannot do both.
Pit crew volunteers help the front ensemble students move the percussion and sound equipment onto the field before the performance and then move it off afterwards. Time commitment is about 30 minutes to an hour, starting at 7 minutes left on the clock before half time. After some game performances the volunteers may also move the equipment back to the storage containers. During competitions, pit crew volunteers also help move the equipment from the trucks to the performance venue and back.

Prop crew volunteers assemble the props, position them on the field for the performance, and disassemble them afterwards. Time commitment is in two chunks of time:
- about 30-45 minutes before the start of the game to assemble the frames, and
- another 30-45 minutes starting just before half time for the performance and then disassembly.
At 7 minutes left on the clock before half time we head to the pit and prop area to be ready for the performance. After the performance we disassemble the frames and put them away in the storage container. During competitions prop crew volunteers also help move the props from the trucks to the performance venue and back.
Transportation For competitions we rent one or two 26' moving trucks. We also need someone with a large pickup or SUV to pull the band trailer with the Gator on it. Truck drivers need to feel confident driving a large truck. Drivers can be on the pit and prop crews also. Truck drivers who sign up ideally will also be available to pick up the truck(s) at Ryder but arrangements can be made. Pick up times might be Friday 4-5pm or Saturday morning depending on the competition schedule. Pickup or SUV drivers should have at least a Class II hitch, be able to tow 2000 pounds, and have a 2" ball.
