PCK is helping the Town of Parker by adopting a flower bed. From May-October, we will be responsible for maintaining many of the beds at Discovery Park, directly in front of the main entrance to the library. This is a great location for us as you can stop by the library all summer for good reading material and enjoy the water feature out front. It is our hope that many PCK families will signup to help with this through the summer. We already have 3 families who have promised to keep the beds looking good and we would like to include several more of you!
Your volunteer time will count toward family volunteer hours and for your Middle Schooler (if you have one) for the 2018-19 or 2019-20 school year. We are asking you to commit to spending at least one hour weeding, deadheading, picking up trash and tidying the mulch at Discovery Park. Bring your own trash bags, wear gloves, and dress appropriately for the weather. The collected trash can either be left at the park next to the trash cans to be picked up by the town, or you can take it home to dispose of.
After you sign up, I will email you a map that shows the beds we need to focus on (outlined in red). Of course if you are at the park to clean up and notice something that needs attention outside of our beds, please care for it as if it were your own. The town and county will maintain the beds along the roads.
The town asked that we have volunteers tend the beds on the days of and after the free Thursday night summer concerts. While the town has their own staff maintaining the park, they know that the concerts draw big crowds which always means more fun and more to clean up. Below is the link for info about the concert series.
My email to you will include an attached fillable waiver. Please fill out the waiver and email it to the address at the bottom of the waiver.
Thanks so much for helping PCK to support Parker's efforts in being a beautiful place to live!
