Here are descriptions of our projects:
Tahoe Truckee Unified School District Backpack Giveback - Purchase backpacks and back-to-school supplies (spiral notebooks, pens, pencils, colored pencils and markers, and granola bars are needed) prior to Sunday, Sept. 8. It is recommended that each participating family spend approximately $15 to $30 on backpacks and supplies, but whatever you can contribute will be appreciated! Bring backpacks and school supplies to church on the 8th. 10 volunteers are needed to work at church on the 8th to organize school supplies and fill backpacks; however, an unlimited number can volunteer to purchase and donate backpacks and supplies! Filled backpacks will be donated to TTUSD for distribution to local students. Great project for kids! Time commitment: 1 hour, in addition to time spent purchasing supplies prior to the 8th.
Truckee-Donner Recreation and Park District - Clean, weed, plant, and landscape at the Rec Center. Wear old clothes, long pants, and gloves. Bring a shovel and/or rake. Time commitment: 2 hours.
Truckee Police and Fire Dept. Appreciation - Purchase and donate Safeway food store gift cards for Firefighters who shop for their meals while on duty (suggest $5 to $20 each). Bake goodies (2 to 3 dozen cookies, brownies, granola, etc.) prior to Sept. 8. Bring the baked goods and gift cards to church on the 8th. Participants will sort and deliver to our local public servants. 10 volunteers needed for distribution and many more needed to shop, bake, and bring gift cards and baked goods to church on the 8th. Great project for kids! Time commitment: 1.5 hours, in addition to time spent shopping or baking.
