Covenant Presbyterian Church
“In a maze we lose ourselves, in a labyrinth we find ourselves.”
We are hoping to build our own outdoor labyrinth, a maze-like pathway for walking meditation and prayer, on the southeast side of the church building. It will welcome neighbors and church folks alike with protective landscaping and benches: a quiet little haven of prayer available to everyone.
The kit with paving bricks costs about $15,000 (we are going to do the installation ourselves) and our fundraising for it will include a unique opportunity to share your love with the neighborhood. The brickwork for the entrance path (not the labyrinth itself) will be made up of bricks etched with special, personalized messages.
Please consider purchasing a paver brick with your etched message for $100 or a plain brick for $80. Use this order form and pay with PayPal at the end. Order forms are also on the welcome table in the hall. Return the hard copy to the church office with a check with BRICK in the memo line. Help make this a gift to our community.
Labyrinth: Maybe you have a hard time sitting still long enough to develop a deep prayer practice. Maybe you are looking for a new spiritual practice to quickstart or deepen your life in God. Have you tried walking a labyrinth?
The labyrinth is a walking mediation. It is a tool that allows us to step out of the chaos and busyness of life, out of the incessant chatter of our inner world, to be still and focus what we find within. This can be a profound experience of Divine Presence and is always a walk with the Holy One.
Wouldn't it be a wondrous gift to offer this sort of experience not only to one another but also to our Covenant neighbors? We have reached out to our neighbors in many ways, building important connections and serving them with the love of Christ. No strings, just love. Here is another way we can offer our community support and nurturing.
