Do you enjoy nature and walking outdoors?
Shawnee is looking for volunteers to monitor its bluebird nesting boxes located in Gamblin Park, Garrett Park, Stump Park and along Clear Creek Trail.
No experience is needed, volunteers will receive training from Extension Master Nautralists (EMN's). During the nesting season, March through August, EMN's will mentor and support bluebird volunteers by answering questions and/or coming out to assist. The first training will be held on Tuesday, February 11th from 7-8 p.m. Monticello Library (22435 W. 66th St. Shawnee, KS 66226) in the Monticello Conference Room. A second training will be held on Saturday, February 22nd from 10-11 a.m. Monticello Library in the Monticello Conference room. Volunteers only need to attend one training, however, if you wish to attend both, you are more than welcome to.
- Volunteers should be 16 or older.
- Training is required: Feb 11 7-8 p.m. or Feb. 22 10-11 a.m. or both.
- Nesting boxes are to be monitored and checked weekly.
