Uptown Players announces auditions for Six Degrees of Separation, which runs May 29 through June 7 at the Kalita Humphreys Theater.
The following roles are open to both equity and non-equity actors. There are four LOA/LORT principle equity contracts available for this production. The production is under the direction of Marianne Galloway.
Ouisa Kitteredge – (age 40s-50s) Witty New Yorker; gracious hostess; a quick conversationalist and dramatic storyteller.
Flan Kitteredge – (age 40s-50s) Sophisticated, successful art dealer who possesses a cutthroat zest for the high stakes of the art world.
Paul – (age 20s – African American) Claims to be Sidney Poitier’s son as well as a Harvard classmate of the Kitteredges' children, although we never really know for certain who he is or where he came from; he alters every life he touches.
Geoffrey – (age 50s-60s) Elegant, liberal South African billionaire who is an acquaintance of the Kitteredges'.
Rick – (age 20s) Idealistic, passionate young actor/singer who moves to New York from Utah with his girlfriend Elizabeth in pursuit of their art.
Elizabeth – (age 20s) Idealistic young actress who moves to New York from Utah with her boyfriend Rick.
Tess Kitteredge – (age early 20s) Louisa and Flan’s daughter; articulate, self-involved, and privileged; can barely contain her contempt and judgment for her parents’ every action and utterance.
Woody Kitteredge – (age early 20s) Louisa and Flan’s son; currently at Harvard; self-absorbed and intolerant; has lived a life of privilege.
Trent Conway – (age early 20s) Attended high school with the Kitteredge children; a genius of sorts, he never fit into the world in which he grew up.
Kitty – (age 40s-50s) Married to Larkin and friends of the Kitteredges. Their children are in the same social circles as the Kitteredges.
Larkin – (age 40s-50s) Married to Kitty; waspy, very concerned with his position in the world.
Ben – (age 20s) Kitty and Larkin’s son; brimming with post-adolescent contempt toward his parents.
Dr. Fine – (age 50s) Divorced; obstetrician at New York Hospital; prides himself on being a liberal, open-minded person.
Doug – (age 20s) Dr. Fine’s son; went to boarding school with the Kitteredges' children; currently attending Dartmouth.
Hustler – (age 20s) male hustler, shocks Ouisa (nudity required for this role).
Doorman/Cop – (age 30s-50s) Doorman of NYC apartment where Flan and Ouisa live. Also plays an NYPD cop.
Detective – (age 30s-40s) NYPD detective who interviews all the victims who have been taken in by Paul.
Auditions will be held at the Bryant Hall building located on the Kalita Humphreys Theater campus, 3636 Turtle Creek Boulevard (@ Blackburn), Dallas TX 75219. The Bryant Hall Building is located at the top of the hill across the drive from the main theater building. Auditions will consist of reading selections from the script. The script is available from dramatists.com. Audition sides are posted below and must be downloaded and printed (or viewed from a mobile device) for the auditions. A headshot and resume are required at auditions. Callbacks will take place on Monday, February 17 from 6pm to 10pm.
