Hello Amazing People,
Want to enjoy the recent warm weather while benefiting the community and environment? Come join us for a trail work day at Ev-Henwood Nature Preserve February 17th from 9 am -12 pm!
The NC Coastal Land Trust, a local land conservation non-profit in Wilmington, is hosting a volunteer trail work day in collaboration with the University of North Carolina Wilmington. We will get together as a community to trim trees, rake, move branches, and mark trails. There is a lot of cleaning up to do after Hurricane Florence made a mess and there is the potential for a prescribed fire to be performed on this day. Due to Florence's rearranging, we will also be planting some longleaf pine trees after many fell and were damaged.
For this specific day, we're going to be working at Ev-Henwood! Located in Brunswick county, this is a huge UNCW preserve boasting wide open spaces, longleaf pine ecosystems, and plenty of trails for education and hiking. Coastal Land Trust will bring water, gloves, hand tools, bug spray, sunscreen, snacks, and waivers for everyone to sign. All you need to bring is a positive attitude and a water bottle if you want!
Parking: Please park at the front entrance of Ev-Henwood Nature Preserve. We will carpool to the main lot through the closed gate once everyone arrives.
Attire: Please wear weather and nature appropriate clothing. Long sleeves and pants are recommended. Closed-toe shoes are required.
