MIAA Race Job Sign-Up

As part of WMRTs committment to competitve youth skiing in Massachussetts, we are partnering again with Wachusett Mountain and the MIAA to assist with the MIAA High School Skiing Championships on Wednesday February 27th. Below is a tentative schedule provided by the MIAA. Please review the volunteer opportunities for the event and sign-up if you're able to assist. It's a fun day of competitive skiing at Wachusett Mountain.

If you've already signed up to volunteer through an MIAA or league volunteer program, please do not sign up again.

MIAA Tentative Race Schedule:

First Run - Smith GS

  • Volunteer Check-in time: 6:30 a.m. Granite Room
  • Spin Polar Express for Course Setters, Jury and course maintenance crew  7:00 a.m.
  • Captain’s / Coaches  meeting:  8:00 a.m.
    • Location: (Polar Express Timing Shack)
  • Officials meeting 8:15 a.m.
    • Location: (Polar Express Timing Shack)
    • Gate Keepers scoring card distribution and instruction review
  • Course inspection 8:30
  • Officials, Course control / gate keepers at stations by 9:05 a.m.
  • Forerunners:  9:20 a.m.
  • First run start:  9:30 a.m.

Second Run - Challenger SL

  • Course set complete by 12:00 p.m.
  • Captain / Coaches / Officials meeting  12:10 p.m.
    • Location bottom of Challenger.
  • Course inspection open  12:15 p.m.
  • Officials, gate keepers at stations by - TBD
  • Forerunners  1:15 p.m.
  • Second run start 1:25 p.m.

PLEASE NOTE: 

The times shown on the sign up page next to the jobs (7:30 am to 11:30 am, 11:30 am to 3 pm, and 7:30 am, to 3:30 pm) are NOT the actual start and finish times.

7:30 to 3:30 - coverage for both the 1st and 2nd run (GS on Smith & SL on Challenger)

7:30 to 11:30 - coverage for the 1st run (GS on Smith)

11:30 to 3:30 - coverage for the 2nd run (SL on Challenger)

You may sign up for 1 all day job, or up to 2 partial day jobs, provided the start/stop does not overlap.

Refer to the Description next to the job title, the description will contain teh CV value.

We have added an "Intern" job this year. This role is intended to allow someone without prior experience in a job to get experience by working alongside an experienced individual. These jobs can be found after the primary job, with "/ Intern" in the title.

Check in is at the Registration Desk.

Start and end times may vary depending the progress of the event - refer the event schedule as published by the MIAA which may be updated during the event.

On Course - 1st Run - Resp for monitoring correct passage through assigned gates (typically 3-5).  The GJ's job is critical for fairness of the race, but is not difficult.  Each GJ maintains race cards to note any fault by the racers. (CV-.75)
