Harry and Rudy are 3-year-old bonded brothers who have found themselves in a situation not of their own making.
In January 2016 Norma saw a very pregnant feral kitty living on the streets of her Key West, FL neighborhood. Next-door-neighbor Martyne, active in local TNR efforts, trapped the feral at Norma’s request. Just a day or two later, Harry and Rudy were born in Norma’s safe feral-guest-quarters bathroom. The kittens had to be kept isolated because their mama was truly feral at the time. However, Norma’s family socialized all the kittens from birth, spending lots of time caring for them and loving them. Harry and Rudy are both sweet-natured, people-oriented kitties as a result. Harry has always been shy and a bit insecure, but is happy as long as Rudy is within his eyesight.
At 8-months-old, these two were lucky enough to find the home of a lifetime with Rick Fournier in Colorado. The boys were transported in August 2016 by TCMers to their new forever home in the Front Range city Colorado Springs. Many of us enjoyed following their lives through Rick’s Facebook posts. Unfortunately, forever ended rather abruptly when Rick passed away last November following a short illness.
Rick’s daughter did not know what to do with Harry and Rudy or Rick’s senior kitty Harley, but she did understand how much the kitties meant to her father so she posted a plea for assistance on his Facebook page. Rick’s friends immediately began networking for a temporary foster and placement options through TCM’s companion page Share and Care. A TCM member near Denver offered to temp foster. A local TCM member, Terri, met Rick’s daughter and transported the kitties to their Temporary Foster Adriana.
Networking efforts continued on behalf of Rick’s three kitties. Harley found a new permanent home with a little help from Maine Coon Rescue. Now it is Harry & Rudy’s turn to go to their new home. Although they are very sad to learn of Rick’s death, Norma and her husband, Harry and Rudy’s original humans, are delighted to take the boys back in! When Norma’s family originally found homes for Harry & Rudy’s mama and siblings in 2016 they actually wanted to keep bonded Harry & Rudy; however, medical situations within their own families prevented them from doing so. They really hated to have to give the boys up three years ago; now, they are willing and able to provide these two sweethearts a loving forever home.
This is where The Catz Meow becomes involved once again. These sweet brothers are ready to return from Colorado to Key West, Florida. The boys have already made this Journey once. With your TCM help, our two seasoned travelers can do it again.
