Back-Farms Volunteers

Senior Center Markets

The Green Urban Lunch Box partners with Salt Lake County’s Aging and Adult Services, USU Extension’s Master Gardeners Program, and Salt Lake County Jail’s Horticulture Program to host Free Farm Stands for seniors at local senior centers. We work together to address food insecurity and create access to healthy fresh food for senior citizens in our community by growing and distributing food through these markets.

Market volunteers assist our staff in setting up the market booth, distributing produce to market participants, and taking down the booth at the end of the market.

  • Markets take place at Salt Lake County senior centers (various locations).

  • Meet our Equitable Distribution Coordinator, Hannah, at the senior center at the designated time.

Time Commitment:

  • 2 - 3 hours per market. Each market will last for approximately 1 - 2 hours, with 1/2 hour of set-up/take down before and after.

  • Markets take place on Mondays, Wednesdays, and some Fridays from mid-July to mid-October. Sign up for as many markets as you would like to attend.

  • Market volunteers will receive training, and each market will be overseen by our Market Staff.

Please email Hannah at [email protected] and/or call (801) 318-1745 if interested or if you have questions.
