Bimah / Greeter
We hear what a difference it makes to be warmly greeted with a smile at the door at services each Shabbat. Our guests appreciate having someone who can direct them to the kippot, sanctuary, or restroom, and who can answer basic questions. Greeters open our front door for guests and also keep an eye out for anything unusual.
Anyone can be a greeter! This is an easy, gratifying way to get more involved at CBE. You determine when and how often to volunteer; just sign up for dates that work for you. CBE board members are expected to sign up for 2-3 Friday nights and/or Saturday mornings; other congregants are invited to sign up for as many Friday nights or Saturday mornings as they like.
As a greeter, your job is simply to make everyone feel comfortable and welcome as they arrive and during the service. If any problems arise or you see something needing attention, please report it to either the Floor Gabbai or any staff/board member onsite. On Friday nights, the greeter also makes announcements from the weekly program to the congregation towards the end of the service.
Things to remember:
- Since our doors are locked at all times, it is essential that greeters arrive 15-20 minutes ahead of the starting time for the service. One of the office or janitorial staff will let you in.
- If you have signed up for a greeter slot and it turns out that you cannot keep your commitment, please update the SignupGenius form as soon as possible so someone else can fill your spot. You may also swap dates with another congregant.
If you have any questions, please send a message to [email protected]. Thank you for helping with this important CBE program!
