Dear Parents and Friends of 6th through 12th graders:
As many of you know, we provide dinner on Sunday nights for the youth as an integral part of the Youth Fellowship Program. Our church values family based youth ministry and the opportunity to build relationships through a shared meal. Therefore, we are asking your help in providing dinner one Sunday evening during the upcoming school year.
If your child has not participated in the Wednesday or Sunday night program in the past and you find yourself on this list that is because we want your child to join us! Also, the church financially sponsors many youth programs including retreats, Dogwood Acres, Sunday School classes and more. This is an opportunity for parents and friends to give back to this ministry.
This sign up has a schedule for the school year in which two sets of parents/families can sign up or are assigned dates for each Sunday night that we will be meeting. If you need to switch your date, please contact other parents and switch, then change your sign up on this online schedule. You will be sent an automatic e-mail reminder five days prior to your assigned date.
Dinner for the youth is served at 6p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Plan to serve about 30-50 youth and adult helpers. Please provide an entrée, a side item (fruit/vegetable/salad), dessert and drinks. Please also bring plates, silverware, napkins and cups as the church is no longer stocking these items. We tend to have one or two vegetarians. We do not expect you to provide an entirely different menu, but include something vegetarian (salad, vegetables, cole slaw, etc.)
For the meal, you can cook the food at your house and reheat it at the church, or prepare all the food at the church. You can also purchase fast food like pizza, Sonny’s, KFC, sub rings, etc and bring that to church. Arrive in time to set up 6 round tables with chairs and one long serving table (found in closet) and to prepare/heat up and serve the meal. Some of the meals the youth have enjoyed included chili, lasagna, tacos, hotdogs, spaghetti, enchiladas, meatball subs, chicken, pork barbeque, and Chinese food. The students enjoy and appreciate all types of food.
Dinnertime ends at 6:30. We ask that you wipe off all tables, and wash and put away any pots, pans, bowls, pitchers and serving utensils that you used from the kitchen.
Please contact me if you have any questions. We greatly appreciate your support of the youth at Faith!
