2018-19 Winter Relief at St. Philip's Church
The week of January 2-7, 2019, St. Philip's will house homeless guests through the Arundel House of Hope's Winter Relief Program, with help from members and groups volunteering within St. Philip's and from several participating organizations. We need goups to help bring in hot breakfasts and bagged lunches throughout the week. Hosting is also very important to the ministry which entails: maintaining coffee and hot water for tea, talking with guests if they wish, being aware of guest activities, allowing guests access to their stored medications, and handling any incidents with help from site coordinators if needed. The late afternoon hosting slot includes receiving guests transported from Trinity United Methodist Church on West Street. If per arrangement any guests arrive later, hosting includes breathalyzing. In the time slots, the numbers in parentheses indicate the remaining number of volunteers needed. If there is no number, only one volunteer is needed still. There is a 15-minute overlap of hosts so that the previous hosts can pass along to the incoming hosts information they should have. Guests must be respectful and courteous to all volunteers and other guests at all times. Please feel free to e-mail any questions to [email protected], or phone St. Philip's on 410/266-9755.
