MLK Day of Service 2019

January 21, 2019

Come enjoy the morning in the country while you work on some building projects indoors- like building a goat milking stool, painting bathrooms, making dryer balls.  There are even two goats who are expecting, so you might be meeting some kids. Lunch will be served and there will be plenty of time to get out and see the animals. All projects will help enhance the grounds for the summer camp and make the winter more enjoyable for the animals.

Art with a Heart
Mill No. 1, 3000 Falls Rd,
Baltimore, MD 21211
Contact: TBD

Volunteers will have the opportunity to help with all branches of the organization in the following ways: Art with a Heart is currently engaged in many large-scale mosaic murals and multimedia public art projects. All of these projects will be completed in HeARTwares (located at 3000 Falls Road in Mill #1) through a collaboration of multiple community partners and hundreds of volunteers.  No experience is necessary! The finished products will be awe-inspiring, one-of-a-kind public art pieces that will not only beautify and enhance the neighborhood in which they will be installed, but will reinforce a sense of positivity, hope and community commitment.  In the process of creating and grouting these large-scale public art projects, volunteers will come together for the opportunity to create something bigger than themselves, to help take ownership of blighted areas, and engage in something that will have a lasting and resonating presence.

In addition to helping with the public art projects, Art with a Heart is always in need of help to prepare for future projects i.e., coloring pop art for merchandise, cutting mirror, breaking tiles, making samples for classes, and completing projects for our community partners. Stations will be available so that volunteers have a variety of fun and engaging options to choose from.

Wear comfortable shoes.  An apron will be provided. Ages 8 and up welcome.
