Help feed the hungry in Baltimore- prepare a casserole for Manna House.
We are coming together to prepare 60 13 x9 pans of casseroles. You are welcome to use Second's famous recipe, see below, or choose one of your favorites. NOTE: we have shifted the drop-off time to 11 AM - 1 PM.
Have too much on your plate with working from home and the kids' online learning schedule? Our Manna House also welcomes large, family-sized trays of frozen macaroni and cheese or lasagna that can be purchased in most grocery stores.
We ask that whatever casserole you make:
YOU and EVERYONE in your HOUSEHOLD be/feel HEALTHY
1- you bring it in a disposable 13x9 pan
2- it is covered with aluminum foil
3- it arrives fully frozen
4- the type of casserole is labeled on it.
5- you bring it to Second Presbyterian Church. (4201 Charlcote Rd. Baltimore, MD 21218) on Friday, February 19th between 11AM-1PM.
1 1/4lb ground beef
1/2 of green pepper (diced)
1/2 of an onion (diced)
16-18oz canned mixed veggies (drained) or frozen mixed vegetables
8oz tomato sauce
4 cups of your favorite mashed potatoes--from a box or homemade
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat, add beef. When beef begins to brown, add the peppers and onions until fully cooked. Drain excess fat. Spread the browned meat with onions and peppers in the 13x9 deep disposable pan.
Mix the canned mixed vegetable together with tomato sauce and then spread them in a layer over the meat. Prepare the mashed potatoes and spread them on top of the vegetable layer. Pro tip: moving potatoes over the other food is easiest done using a dinner fork. Cover with aluminum foil, labeled, and fully freeze.
