Dallas CASA Continuing Education
Several CASA Supervisors with mental health backgrounds have developed a training series to discuss the impact of trauma on children in care. This 4-part series will cover definitions, statistics, and symptoms related to trauma, explore the effects of trauma on the brain and a child’s overall development, provide tips to advocates for working with children with trauma histories, and touch on the impact of secondary traumatic stress for helpers within the child welfare system. Advocates are encouraged, but not required, to attend all 4 parts of the series.
