Tin Roof Acoustic Showdown
Hello and welcome to the Tin Roof Acoustic Showdown Signup Genius! Here you will be able to choose your specific time and date for the Acoustic Showdown Series 23, happening Mondays, October 1 through November 19 with the Semi-Finals for the weekly runners-up being Monday, November 26 and the Grand Finale on Friday, December 7th. Due to popular demand from those with day jobs, we now begin at 7:30PM!
At the Finals, we will be awarding over $13,000 worth of cash and prizes! The Acoustic Showdown takes nothing for ourselves from the sponsors, and we are always looking for new and exciting sponsors to help evolve the Atlanta music scene. We have over 100 sets per series and some stellar exposure!
Should anything happen and you cannot make it to perform for the spot that you signed up for, please contact Ian with as much notice as possible. WARNING: Cancelations on the day of the show will cancel any current and future bookings at Tin Roof Cantina, Bartaco, Viginia Highlands Summerfest and from Ian Schumacher, On Point Creative and affiliated venues.
1st Place: $1,000 CASH from Red Hare Brewing and Fire on the Mountain Cinnamon Whisky, Studio Time at Madison Records, $1,000 worth of video production from Shadow Walk Films, 8 hours of engineering and 4 hours of audio production services from David Lopez Audio, 3-6 Months of personalized Social Media Marketing from Occipital Media, Stage and Event Design from On Point Creative, mastering of an EP from Martina Albano Mastering, an opening gig for a national headliner at Center Stage or a Rival Entertainment event, a live video and amazing write up from Libro Musica, a photo shoot from Ed Lee Photography, an amazing Feature with Bullet Music, a set at Virginia-Highlands Summerfest and a paid gig at Tin Roof Cantina.
2nd Place: $500 CASH from Sweetwater Brewing and Fire on the Mountain Cinnamon Whisky, $500 worth of video production from Shadow Walk Films, 4 hours of audio production services from David Lopez Audio and a paid gig at Tin Roof Cantina.
We are looking to bring in as many new, exciting artists as possible this series. If you have any badass friends, please turn them on to this.
There will be 12-14 acts each night over the course of 8 weeks, and each night there will be two winners who will receive a $50 gift card for Tin Roof Cantina. First place winner goes straight to the Finale, 2nd place winners will come back for a Semi-Final Showdown on Monday, November 26th.
NEW RULES: You may sign up for up to TWO Mondays, but they must be at least one week apart.
Every artist who arrives for the beginning of the Showdown and stays until the end will receive 5 extra points!
All underage performers must perform before 10PM.
Cover songs, although often wonderful, are no longer allowed in the Showdown
Although we do not turn anyone away, this is a rare "professionals only" competition. Should you be on the fence about this, please sign up for an early slot and see how it goes. Time slots will be up to 15 minutes long - MAXIMUM of 3 songs, including setup time. All genres are welcome. Should your setup be particularly time-consuming or involved, please make arrangements in advance to set up early so you can have the most stage time possible. We prefer all instruments to be able to be plugged in - if yours doesn't please let us know in advance.
Every person who walks through the door gets a "Crowd Ballot." Each ballot will have two voting lines - you can vote for the act you came to support (or play in!) as well as the act that most moved you.
Each act will receive one "Artist Ballot". Artist Ballots must also vote for two different acts and each Artist Ballot will count as 5 Crowd Ballots.
Artists are welcome to vote for themselves, should they choose, on the Crowd Ballot but not the Artist Ballot.
Each ballot MUST have two different acts written on it. We want the crowd vote side of the competition to equally reflect both popularity and quality. Ballots with only one vote or two of the same WILL NOT BE COUNTED.
NO CONVENTIONAL DRUMSETS WILL EVER BE ALLOWED! For some reason, a few drummers haven't been able to understand this, but it is, in fact the rule. Yes, they are acoustic. No, you can not play them. Drummers MAY use two pieces from a drumset, but no drumsticks - you MAY use brushes, hot rods or your hands. Yes, electric instruments and pedals are welcome. Sorry. No backing tracks, either.
We will have 3 DI boxes and 3 microphones for you to use on stage. Like I mentioned, NO CONVENTIONAL DRUM SETS are allowed, but thanks to Guitar Center, we will have a cajon mic'd and ready to go onstage for all the drummers. Please bring your own guitar, bass, xylophone, capo, TUNER, guitar pics and incendiary devices.
