Friends with Flowers Deliveries
Friends with Flowers
Thank you so much for volunteering to bring flowers to parishioners. The parishioner to whom you are bringing flowers may be unable to get to church, be ill, have a death in the family, or be celebrating something, such as the birth of a child.
You can find the flowers after our Sunday services in the flower room (the small antechamber to the left of the chancel steps). Occasionally, the flowers are still on the altar, so look for them there if they are not in the flower room.
The flowers come with a white plastic vase that can be removed from the brass vase. The bases to the white vases can be found behind the brass vases on the altar, or in the flower room. In addition to the flowers, you'll find a sheet of paper with names, phone numbers and addresses of the people who will receive the flowers. There should also be bulletins and stationery present.
When you take the flowers, if you have the time, we encourage visiting in person with the recipient for a few moments. This is a great time to express the care of the St. Paul’s community. If the person is not home, we encourage you to leave a handwritten note with the flowers, so the person has some context about the source of the flowers.
If you choose to deliver the flowers to someone else, please call the church office and let the parish administrator know. In the course of your visit, if you learn anything you believe the clergy or church office should know, do not hesitate to call or email them!
Things come up, so if you cannot deliver on the days you've signed up, please let the church office know as soon as possible ([email protected] or 434-979-6354). You can also login to Sign Up Genius to remove / change your sign up. This way, the person who will make the deliveries that day can signup and be noted in the bulletin.
Thank you so much for serving in this beautiful way.
