Highlights for 2019
Our native plant sale is a fundraiser that supports the Stan Vistica Memorial Scholarship. Profits from the native plant sale help fund scholarships for two students from Marion County studying Natural Resources or Agriculture at an Oregon College or University. The scholarship was established in 2006 and is named after an outstanding friend, conservationist, and former Board Member, Stan Vistica. The scholarship is administered through the Office of Student Access and Completion: www.oregonstudentaid.gov.
WORM BIN RAFFLE
Enter the raffle to win your very own worm bin! An easy way to put your table scraps to good use and make free fertilizer for your garden! Do not need to be present to win. We are giving away two bins this year.
MARION COUNTY MASTER GARDENERS INFORMATION TABLE
The Marion County Master Gardeners will have an information table at our plant sale and will be available to answer all of your gardening questions.
FREE WELL WATER NITRATE SCREENING
Staff from the OSU Extension Small Farms Program will be present from 9:00am-1:30pm to test your well water for nitrates. For a free nitrate screening, bring ½ cup of untreated well water in a clean, water-tight container.
There will be NO limit on the number of plants that can be purchased, although we still encourage customers to purchase a diversity of plants. If you wish to purchase a large quantity (over 50) of any one species, please contact the Marion SWCD before the plant sale and we will assist you with purchasing your plants outside of the plant sale.
New Species! Oregon Boxwood (Paxistima myrsinites) and Canada Goldenrod, (Solidago canadensis)
Returning Species (that we haven’t had for a while): Orange Honeysuckle, (Lonicera ciliosa), Western Wahoo, (Euonymous occidentalis) Cascara, (Rhamnus purshiana)—a great tree for urban and small yards!
