Due to the summer's high temperatures, Volunteer Hikes at the Park are on hold until after Labor Day.
Every 1st and 3rd Tuesday from 5:30pm to 7:30pm we will be taking some of our dogs to Charlie Daniels Park for a quick hike around the track! Volunteers will need to use their cars to transport the dog they are walking to and from Charlie Daniels Park.
If you plan on bringing a friend, please try to drive separately so we can guarantee both walkers will be able to have a dog. If you carpool, there is no guarantee you will be able to safely transport two or more dogs in your car which means not every hiker will be able to walk a dog.
Please Note: Although these are senior dogs, most of them still have a lot of life left. To safely hike, you will need to be comfortable handling energetic dogs of all sizes and strengths.
5:30pm - Volunteers arrive at OFSDS and line up on the front porch.
5:30pm - 5:45pm - Dogs are brought out one-by-one to volunteers.
5:45pm - 6:00pm - Dogs are loaded into volunteers' cars and we drive to Charlie Daniels Park.
6:00pm - 6:15pm - Unload and line up.
6:15pm - 7:00pm- Walk around the track with the dogs, keeping a 10ft distance between each dog.
7:00pm - 7:15pm - Load dogs up and drive back to OFSDS.
7:15pm - 7:30pm - Unload and dismiss volunteers. Dogs will be returned one-by-one as they were walked out.
