Weinberg Food Pantry
To ensure that our community has access to food and supplies during the COVID-19 public health crisis, the Jewish Family Service Weinberg Food Pantry is providing boxes of food to anyone currently experiencing food insecurity.
We are seeking healthy volunteers to help sort food, pack boxes, distribute boxes, and assist with the arrival of donations. We are also seeking traffic flow volunteers to direct vehicles confidently, maintain smooth traffic flow, and speak with clients from a distance through their car windows, and be able to tolerate the elements. Volunteers must dress appropriately for a warehouse setting and for the weather, and must bring their own bottles of water to drink. Volunteers must be physically able to lift cans and boxes. Please wear a mask. Gloves will be provided.
Packing, Donation Reception, Restocking Volunteers: Ages 12-15 may volunteer accompanied by an adult, 16 years old to volunteer on their own. Please use adult's name on the sign-up, add youth's name(s) and age(s) to the "My Comment" section, and select the total number of your group from the "Quantity" drop down menu.
Distribution Volunteers must be aged 15 and over. Youths aged 15 -17 must volunteer for this position with an adult. This is a very physically demanding position, so please only sign up if you are able to physically exert yourself for the entire duration of the shift.
Traffic Flow Coordinator Volunteers: Must be at least 18 years old.
In an effort to take every precaution and prioritize health and safety for our clients, volunteers, and staff, people in need of food will not be entering the pantry. Boxes of food will be distributed by a "drive-thru" system directly outside of the pantry. Please do not volunteer if you are experiencing any symptoms of illness or are in a higher-risk category. All volunteers who arrive for shifts will have their temperatures taken.
Available slots are below, just click on the button to sign up. We are extremely reliant on our volunteers for the success of this program, so please only sign up if you are able to commit your time for the entire shift.
If you are unable to volunteer, please consider making a donation to help us meet our increased need for services, and your gift will be matched. Thank you!
