Tree of Life
Matthew 5:6 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.”
TOL Winchester offers a monthly Sunday supper for the homeless in our community at Salvation Army Homeless Shelter at 300 Fort Collier Rd, Winchester. Small groups (such as family, friends, church groups, or school organizations) come together and commit to preparing, serving, and enjoying a meal. We strive to foster relationships, so please sit, eat, and converse with our partners and their children. When you sign-up, please write in the comments section the meal you will bring. And, be sure to include your host group name and email so we can contact you concerning details.
Please contact Lu Klipple ([email protected]) or Donna Gothard ([email protected]) for more details about the meal.
May you be blessed with the blessing of your service. Thank You.
Your group will be asked to prepare a meal off site, set up, serve, enjoy a meal, and clean up. Please arrive at Salvation Army Homeless Shelter at 5 pm to set up. Everyone pitches in to clean up, and you should be finished by 7 pm. Our partners are inspired and grateful for your hard work, generosity, and relationship with them.
The host group provides a meal of their choice, including one main course, side dishes, dessert, and individual water bottles. It is best not to provide a potluck since you will be offering full plates of food to our partners and their families. Be prepared to serve 40 people (including volunteers). Our attendance varies with time of year and weather. Any leftover food we bless our partners to take with them.
The meal must be prepared off site and brought to TOL ready to serve.
Note: We need 4-6 people from the host group to help serve. Children are welcome with adult supervision. We stress that babies and young children not be brought around the serving table for safety reasons.
