The familiy number is transitional as a new famiy will be moving in next week. So approximate amount of people the meal should cover is:
Adults - 7
Kids - 15
Dinner should be cooked before being dropped off (no later than 5:30 on the day you signed up for), or you can prepare dinner at the shelter. We regularly update the number of people the meal should provide for as well as any allergies or dietary needs reported by our residents.
Please only sign up for days that you are sure you can commit to. If you choose to "call out" of dinner donations less than 48 hours in advance 3 times, we will have to ask that you find another organization to devote your efforts to.
Please be cognizant of what others are bringing that week, as we try to offer our residents a balanced variety of different foods. If you need further inspiration, please feel free to look at what others have brought, or our Pinterest page.
Please understand how important volunteering to prepare a meal for residents is. This is choosing to feed families a meal they can enjoy. We ask that there be a meat, starch, and vegetables. Please also make it something simple and easy for kids to eat.
Here are examples:
Baked chicken, rice, and vegetables.
Spaghetti, salad anNOTE: d garlic bread
Tacos, especially beef
Chicken caesar salad and Italian bread
Pizza and salad
Chicken and broccoli over rice
Salmon and potatoes with green beans
What is not acceptable?
Any spicy food
Stepping Stones Shelter awards 3 Service Learning Hours for each meal donated.
