School of Economics
Students in grades 4-6 will be visiting School of Economics to learn and apply financial skills. They will each have a job, earn paychecks, and make consumer spending decisions about “needs” and “wants”. Their entrepreneurial businesses will be producing and selling food and craft items (including your lunch).
During a 4-hour marketplace simulation, you can help students take out a loan and understand the concept of “interest”. Some volunteers will work one-on-one with young bank tellers, cashing checks and taking deposits. Others can help in the shops, where following directions and staying within budget are important.
Schools attending on the dates listed are all considered LMI with >50% enrollment in free and reduced lunch programs. Contact me if you need more details. School of Economics appreciates help from the financial community in delivering reality-based education.
Coffee, tea, water bottles, and soda are available. Volunteers will get our currency with which to purchase lunch of chicken nuggets, BBQ sandwich, quesadillas, etc. or you can bring a packed lunch if preferred. Thanks!
