19 staff app
We are trying something new this year to help lighten everyone's load while still showing our appreciation. We will have the bulk of the meal catered but we will still need volunteers to bake, provide drinks and assist during the event. Note that they do overlap so plan accordingly!
Remember- nut free, please!
The location of each assignment is noted as US (upper school) and LS (lower school). Please note when signing up.
2019 wrap up notes for US:
Consider doing a big soup and salad bar instead. Lots or protein choices.
A few more desserts would have been good just for the sake of variety. Consider requesting a gluten free option as well. 10-12 desserts is good.
Lunch was catered by Double Wide Grill with pulled pork, mac and cheese w broccoli (which we ran out of), grilled chicken (which wasn't as popular), seitan wings (popular), salad, coleslaw, cornbread (delicious but 4 pans were too much). They supplied burger buns but we also had slider buns. The slider buns were very successful and allowed folks to try smaller portions.
We had 3 fruit salads and they all went. Lots of La Croix and finally enough drink tubs and coolers to keep inventory well stocked.
Things to remember in the future:
-set aside food for e-day and custodians
-to go containers or tell staff to bring their own. We went through about 10 containers.
-cut things in small portions to allow nibbling and keep things from running out early
-US set up was easy with 1 folding table for paper goods and mains, one for drinks, one for salads and one for desserts
-having music in the background was nice
-volunteers- only need 1 to hang around once things start. 3-4 for set up and clean up were good if it will be catered and held inside.
Wrap up for LS
We had lots of leftover desserts at the LS. I would say half of the baked goods would be enough; the fruit salad was the perfect amount.
We ran out of salad at the LS, and had way too much cornbread leftover. We went by what they ate during the January luncheon (which was a lot of cornbread apparently). I would half the amount of chicken, a veggie side, more salad, less cornbread next time.
We also had tons of beverages left over. They didn’t touch the lemonade or iced tea but the La Croix was very popular. I’d say for next year to nix the bottles stuff (then we don’t need cups) and just go with canned.
What if we plan a designated dinner for them, instead of cold leftovers? I know eday wanted a separate acknowledgement, so perhaps some sandwiches/salads/pizza delivered when they are there would be nice, and we can include the custodian staff with them????
LS set up: 3 large tables was perfect (2 for food, 1 for desserts and drinks). We need to remember to set up the table in the lounge nicely for eating (and the music idea is great)
