A mobile pantry distribution is an outdoor drive-thru grocery service in which the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia provides groceries directly to food-insecure families within our region.
Expected volunteer tasks at a mobile pantry include: using basic math skills, repeatedly lifting groceries up to 35 pounds, helping direct traffic, basic customer service skills to provide friendly and efficient service, and standing for 2-4 hours.
At each mobile pantry, disposable masks, gloves, sanitizer, and water will be provided for all volunteers. At each mobile pantry, all volunteers are required to always wear a face mask over both their nose and mouth as well as disposable gloves to follow CDC certified Covid-19 guidelines.
Volunteers should wear close-toed shoes (no sandals, flip flops) and dress in clothes best suited for the weather.
Under inclement weather, the mobile pantry may have a cancellation, in which each volunteer will be contacted to be updated. Otherwise, the mobile pantry will continue under reasonable weather circumstances.
Upon arrival to the mobile pantry, please sign in to the volunteer log to confirm and verify volunteer hours. If for any reason you are not able to attend the event within the week, please contact us at [email protected] or by giving us a call at: (706) 354-8191, extension 113.
