Dear Friend of the FCA,
We are rapidly approaching our sports camp held on June 25-29, 20189in Spearfish, S.D. This year’s camp theme is LET’S GO! The camp verse is Jesus came and told his disciples,“I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20 NLT.
Sports camp is a “rescue mission” and we are “wading into a domain of darkness.” Colossians 1:13-14, “For He rescued us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”
As a camp staff we work hard to:
(1) CREATE AN ENVIRONMENT that can better produce what GOD intended to produce.
(2) “PAINT THE TARGET” through PRAYER.
(3) CELEBRATE THE HARVEST after camp.
I need your help with “PAINTING THE TARGET” withPRAYER. We are looking for PRAYER WARRIORS who will commit to PRAY for camp. Would you, members of your family and church family commit to faithful, fervent prayer for the Northern Black Hills Sports Camp in Spearfish, South Dakota?
It is important to continue to lift the camp up in prayer while it is going on because this is when some of the most furious spiritual battles are being waged in the hearts and minds of the campers. Over the years at camp our FCA staff has witnessed obvious spiritual attacks by the enemy not only on our campers but on our staff, more especially our college huddle leaders. We must counter the enemy’s strategy with prayer during our entire camp.
Below is a prayer covering time schedulecovering the camp in prayer 24:7. This is even a bigger prayer commitment that I need your help with. Would you recruit as many prayer warriorsas you can to stand in the gap during the entire camp? Warriors can enlist to cover one or multiple hours during the week.
Finally, once camp is over we will send all prayer warriors a list of campers that made faith commitments and recommitments to follow Jesus Christ, accepting Him as their Savior and desiring for Him to be the Lord of their lives. When these kids return back home from camp they are often all alone in their spiritual walk and our prayers may be the only spiritual support that they have. Would you also consider praying for these kids once a week for the yearfollowing their attendance at camp? Join us in praying for these kids every week throughout the year.
Thank you for considering my request to join others as prayer warriors for our sports camp. Your prayer efforts help us fulfill FCA’s mission through the camp ministry “to lead every coach and athlete into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His church.”
Trusting in Him,
"Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I go to the Father. Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it” John 14:12-14 NASB.
“Prayer does not fit us for the greater works, prayer is the greater work,” Oswald Chambers, My Utmost for His Highest, October 17th.
