We'd love your help at OOTC's day shelter! Each day at the shelter is a little different, but volunteers are always appreciated! Here are a few ways that volunteers will be used at OOTC's day shelter:
Spend time with guests, talking, playing games, puzzles, etc. Serve meals. Run errands for staff - to stores, taking guests to appointments, etc. Cleaning and organizing. Doing a structured activity with guests. Administrative tasks - writing thank you cards, helping to plan events, entering guest data, etc. There are days when we'll have a specific task for you and other days when you'll just spend time with the guests.
Meal Providers: Please note that we're also looking for volunteers to provide lunches on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday. (We have several great restaurants that donate to us, but these days are not covered by those restaurants.)
OOTC's day shelter is located at 318 South Atherton Street. When you arrive for your shift, please find an OOTC staff person to find out the agenda for the day! If you have questions about volunteering, you can contact us at [email protected] or 814.852.8864.
