Lost Dog & Cat Rescue Foundation
Welcome! Thank you for your interest in volunteering at our Lost Dog & Cat Rescue Animal Care Center (ACC)! We are always looking for new volunteers to join us!
We have a variety of activities for volunteering at our LDCRF Animal Care Center to include dog-walking, caring & socializing with cats, enrichment activities, office support, and basic kennel chores. Volunteers do require prior experience working with cats and dogs; and must be able to confidently work independently in and around the ACC.
Prior to a new volunteer signing up for a shift at the care center, each person completes new volunteer welcome & orientation. Time required to be on-boarded as a new volunteer at the care center is based on each volunteers interest area(s).
New Volunteer Welcome/Orientation Sessions are held (based on instructor availability):
Wednesday, 12:00 pm
Wednesday, 6:00 pm
Sunday, 9:30 am
*Orientation includes classroom style discussion and a walking tour of the Animal Care Center. Please allow 1-1/2 hours for orientation; times may vary based on attendees.
- VOLUNTEERING WITH DOGS: upon completion of a group orientation session, volunteers interested in walking dogs will be scheduled to attend a hands-on dog walking session (approx 15-30 minutes) with a volunteer ambassador, prior to walking dogs on their own.
- VOLUNTEERING WITH CATS: likewise, volunteers interested in helping with cats will be scheduled to attend a cat room orientation (30-45 min) with a volunteer ambassador, prior to volunteering in the cat room on their own.
**Age Restriction: volunteers MUST BE AT LEAST 18 YEARS OF AGE. For everyone's safety, CHILDREN ARE NOT PERMITTED IN THE KENNEL AREAS.
FINDING US: Directions (view video: http://bit.ly/LDCRFKennelFindingUs)
We are located at 6801 Wilson Blvd, Falls Church VA, directly behind the Eden Center; use the entrance with no arch, smaller concrete lions, right next to Arlington Motors sign. Then, make an immediate left turn, follow road to a large gray building with yellow awnings. Park in the spaces by our building or in the shopping center parking lot - but NOT at the building across the street.
Please use the large white metal gate at the right side of the building to enter. Thank you and we look forward to meeting you!
