Backpack Distribution Volunteers (AT HPE)
THe 2020-2021 School Year brings with it many challenges. The Weekend Backpack Program has worked to adapt the program to meet the current needs of HPE families to reduce hunger in our neighborhood and particularly those students and families that attend HPE.
On Wednesdays, we are requesting 10 families to bring a bag of food to HPE (1700 Saunders) between 5:00-5:30pm. This is a no contact drop off outside of the Main Entrance.
Beginning November 11, All donors will be asked to drop their bags on the curb at the Main Entrance and our weekly volunteers will collect the bags and sort the food.
Parents will pick up the food between 5:30-6:00pm.
Here is list of items to choose from to fill your bag: (not all inclusive! Use your creativity!)
boxes or bags of salad mix, loaf of bread*, whole or 2% milk*, eggs*, cheese, spaghetti Sauce, orange juice or other juices, fruit*, berries*, etc. Please stay away from meat and peanut items. (*items are especially appreciated)
Gloria Dei will continue to provide many other non or less perishable food items such as flour, sugar, rice, pasta, canned beans, potatoes, yams, onions, oil.
Monetary donations are also welcome. Make a check out to Gloria Dei with Weekend Backpack on the memo line. All donations go toward food purchases.
