Family Promise Hosting Week will be at St. Peter's beginning Sunday, January 19, 2020. Our support congregations, Temple Avodat Shalom - River Edge, First Congregation Church - River Edge and St. Joseph - Oradell will provide volunteers for their hosting evenings.
Families are welcome to come with children of all ages, children under the high school age will need to be with a parent/adult
St. Peter's Hosting evenings Friday and Saturday require the following:
Food Preparers: Each volunteer will be assigned a specified dish to make at home and bring to the parish center hot and ready to serve by 6:30 PM for our guests. Volunteers may come as a family, all children under the high school age need to have a parent present. All food preparers are welcome to share a meal with our guests.
Family Entertainment: Volunteers come to the parish center to help make our guests feel welcome. We do not want to overwhelm our guests however, the children always seem to enjoy "hanging out" with their peers. Many volunteers come in with games, crafts, books... Volunteers may come as a family, all children under the high school age need to have a parent present.
Overnight Hosts: Adults only. 2 overnight hosts are required each evening. Our overnight hosts stay until our guests leave in the morning approx. 7:00 AM.
THANK YOU for volunteering during our Family Promise Hosting week. It is the kindness of all of our volunteers that help make these families feel welcome and safe during the most difficult transition while finding permanent shelter.
