Stratton Green Team
Many thanks to the enthusiastic students who came out on May 19 to plant numerous seeds and seedlings in the raised bed gardens at Stratton! We're looking forward to the many edibles and flowers/pollinators to come, but we need your help to water.
Please sign up for a week (or more) this spring/summer to be in charge of keeping these thirsty plants happy. There is a hose connected to a spigot near the bike rack/kindergarden doors by the blacktop. Families will pass the water key along to the next families, which turns on/off the water. Please have the hose set to shower, anything harder may wash the seeds away. Depending on weather, each family will likely come out to water the gardens anywhere between 4-6 times during the week. It's pretty quick, maybe 10 minutes of watering. Families are welcome to harvest during their week, although likely not until mid-June for many things, although a few clips of herbs and lettuces will be available sooner.
During your week, keep us updated on how things are going in the garden! Send a few pics and let us know what's growing, what you've harvested (and how it tasted), and any other comments you'd like to share with the Stratton community!
You can email your update to [email protected] and it will be posted on https://jeffsugarman.wixsite.com/website/our-garden Thanks so much to Jeff Sugarman for creating the Stratton Green Team website!
