Friends of the ANBG
The ANBG Summer Sounds concerts for 2020 start on Saturday 18 January, and run for three weekends. There are six concerts, beginning at 5:30 pm and finishing at 7.30 pm.
We need volunteers for collecting entry donations, supervising parking and transport for disabled patrons, driving the electric vehicles up to the Eucalypt Lawn, and answering queries at the Information Tent.
COLLECTORS AND MARSHALS
Volunteers will be grouped into three teams:
- Two teams of entry donation collectors, one at the Cafe Bridge and one behind the Crosbie Morrison building and at the CSIRO gate, to collect money from patrons as they enter from the car parks.
- A team of marshals to direct cars to disability parking spaces, provide directions to the electric vehicles, and supervise the queues for these vehicles.
Time: Arrive at 3:30 pm for a briefing in the Banks Building. Finish around 6:30 pm once most patrons have arrived, or earlier at the discretion of the team coordinator.
ELECTRIC VEHICLE DRIVERS
Four volunteers per evening will be needed, two to drive the Flora vehicle, and the other two the Gardens electric vehicle. These will take people with mobility issues up to the Eucalypt Lawn, and back again at the end of the concert. This is a free service, provided by the Friends.
Requirements: Drivers must be accredited to drive Gardens electric vehicles.
Time: Shift 1: 3:30 - 6:30 pm: Arrive at 3:30 pm for a briefing in the Banks Building. Drivers will drive passengers from the car parks to the Eucalypt Lawn. This usually finishes by 6:30 pm when you will hand over to the Shift 2 driver.
Shift 2: 6:15 pm - 8:00 pm: Arrive at 6:15 pm for a briefing on the Eucalypt Lawn before taking over from Shift 1 driver at 6:30 pm. Around 7 pm drivers begin transferring passengers back down the hill to the car park, finishing by 8:00 pm.
Please note: Drivers, if they wish, are welcome, to sign up for both shifts on a day.
Two volunteers each evening to provide directions and answer queries in the Information Tent. Materials and resources will be provided.
Time: Arrive at 4:45 pm for a briefing and set-up at the Information Tent on the Eucalypt Lawn. Volunteers will be on duty until the end of the concert at 7:30 pm, and will help pack up items inthe Information Tent.
