The Sandy Springs Middle School PTO launched a FEED SSCMS campaign in partnership with our friends at Samad Grill, located at 8897 Roswell Road on the other end of the Stars and Strikes shopping center.
*****Beginning Monday, July 6, the pantry will be open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday each week. The hours will remain 11 am - 2 pm. The pantry will use Tuesdays for re-stocking and will be closed completely on Thursdays.*****
The process is simple - if a family comes in wanting to donate groceries, they LEAVE their non-perishable donations in the box provided outside the restaurant. If a family comes in needing groceries, they RECEIVE what they need.
Though it was started to feed the SSCMS community, our reach has expanded to help families at Dunwoody Springs, Ison Springs, Woodland, Spalding, and NSHS. Anyone who comes in with a need will receive what we can provide. Use your best judgement if someone not affiliated with our Sandy Springs schools asks for groceries - we will provide for them, but gently explain that the program is for our school families.
As this program has evolved, we have realized we NEED THREE volunteers per shift to maximize safety for our recipients and volunteers alike. Volunteers will greet a recipient at the door from across the table outside, ask them about any special requests or items they can't use, and provide a bag or two of groceries. The bag should be placed on the table outside for the recipient to pick up. This is intended to maintain safe social distancing practicies.
Give any cash donations received to Jamal, Lesley, or their daughter and they will keep behind the register for us.
If you can help, please sign up. If you have children, as much we would love to include them in this important program, it's best for kids to remain at home right now. Order takeout while you're there. PRACTICE SOCIAL DISTANCING.
--All volunteers MUST WEAR GLOVES. Masks are strongly encouraged, and can be found in the box behind the tables/near the barstools.
--Volunteers - please do not bring your children. Our space is limited and it's safest for only one volunteer at a time to work at the pantry.
--One family member per family can receive groceries. Families need to remain outside and six feet apart.
--We are currently not offering $5 publix giftcards for perishables since we have added so much produce. Each family can receive some non-perishables and some produce. Two bags MAX per family.
--If we are running low on any items please text Jenn 410.913.0704 and she will arrange to have more of that item picked up. We have a generous pool of donated cash to work from when replenishing groceries.
--If a donor or Samad customer wants to give cash, take it! Text Jenn to let her know what was received so we can purchase items with it.
--Order from Samad while you're there - their food is so good!
