SSCMS Parents
On March 12, 2020, the Sandy Springs Middle School PTO launched a FEED SSCMS campaign in partnership with our friends at Samad Grill, located at 8897 Roswell Road on the other end of the Stars and Strikes shopping center. We now serve families from all the schools in our cluster - SSCMS, North Springs High, Woodland Elem, Ison Springs Elem, Spalding Drive Elem, and Dunwoody Springs Elementary.
*****The pantry is now open TUESDAYS and FRIDAYS only each week. The hours will remain 11 am - 2 pm. We will also be restocking on Tuesdays.*****
The process is simple - we serve families donating groceries by helping them unload their cars. We serve families needing groceries at the Samad side door. The line flows down the sidewalk stairs and customers are asked to socially distance using the 6 foot markers on the ground. Anyone who comes in with a need will receive what we can provide. Use your best judgement if someone not affiliated with our Sandy Springs schools asks for groceries - we will provide for them, but gently explain that the program is for our school families.
As this program has evolved, we have realized we NEED THREE volunteers per shift to maximize safety for our recipients and volunteers alike. Volunteers will greet a recipient at the door from across the table outside, ask them about any special requests or items they can't use, and provide a bag or two of groceries. The bag should be placed on the table outside for the recipient to pick up. This is intended to maintain safe social distancing practicies.
Cash donations can be placed in the bucket found on the green table. There is signage letting Samad customers know how to give via paypal or venmo - many do - Samad's customers are incredible.
If you can help, please sign up. Teens are now able to help out as well. Order takeout while you're there. PRACTICE SOCIAL DISTANCING.
Rules:
--All volunteers MUST WEAR MASKS (ALWAYS) and GLOVES (when handling food directly).
--One family member per family can receive groceries. Families need to remain outside and six feet apart.
--Each family can receive some non-perishables and some produce.
--If we are running low on any items please text Jenn 410.913.0704 and she will arrange to have more of that item picked up. We have a generous pool of donated cash to work from when replenishing groceries.
--If a donor or Samad customer wants to give cash, take it! Text Jenn to let her know what was received so we can purchase items with it.
--Order from Samad while you're there - their food is so good!
