Volunteer Positions Available:
-Set Up Volunteers will assist with preparing for a drive through Free Farmers Market distribution. Set up tents, tables, and sort through and package produce for the distribution. Volunteers must be able to lift 40 pounds.
-Greeter Volunteers will greet neighbors as they arrive at our Free Farmers Market. They will use good customer service to answer questions that may arise and take brief intake information for our reporting purposes.
-Market Volunteers will assist in packaging produce for the Free Farmers Market distribution. They will also assist neighbors by loading packages into their vehicles. After market, these volunteers will also assist in tear down and loading the food shelf truck. Volunteers must be able to lift 40 pounds.
Please review the available slots and FFM Volunteer Agreement & Job Description below before signing up for a shift. You will need to bring the signed agreement to your first volunteer shift.
Following the guidance from the CDC and the State of Minnesota, the White Bear Area Food Shelf (WBAFS) will no longer require face masks in our building/grounds or at offsite events for vaccinated individuals starting 6/21/2021. As part of this guidance, unvaccinated individuals are asked to continue to wear masks and follow social distance guidelines. The WBAFS will not be asking or monitoring the vaccination status of volunteers, staff, or neighbors. Volunteers who wish to wear a mask are welcome to do so.
Volunteers should be able to:
-Fufill the Volunteer Requirements During COVID-19 listed in the agreement below including being age 16 or older to volunteer alone (ages 12-15 are welcome with an adult)
-Lift at least 40 pounds (except Greeters), work in a fast-paced environment, and stand for the length of the volunteer shift (breaks will be given to avoid heat exhaustion)
-Work in summer weather conditions - heat, humidity, rain, etc.
Free Farmers Markets will operate rain or shine but will be canceled or moved to an indoor location in the case of inclement weather (thunderstorms, heat advisories, etc.) An announcement will be made at 3pm the day before the market on our Facebook page and voicemail message (651-407-5310). All volunteers signed up for the canceled/moved shift will be notified by email. Please always check your email prior to your shift or updates.
