UNCG with Out of the Garden Project
Please sign up to volunteer with "Out of the Garden Project" to help with the Fresh Mobile Markets - Food Drops! This is an incredible opportunity for our UNCG staff to engage with the community and see what OOTGP is all about. And use the 24 hours of community service you are allotted as an SHRA or EHRA employee of UNCG!!
The Fresh Mobile Markets take place at 4 - 6 high need schools and food deserts every week. They distribute between 50 – 70 Ibs of food per family. Depending on the site, OOGTP has between 50 - 80 families at each fresh mobile market. This food includes shelf-stable food from the government, bread/dessert, milk/juice, fresh produce, pizza, and meat. They give away more frozen food as they have it.
We will be working at several possible locations which will be listed beside the specific date you sign up for volunteering.
Each FMM shift lasts between 1.5 - 2 hours. Closed toe shoes are a requirement for all volunteering with OOTGP. Heavy lifting is involved but can be avoided if you are not able to.
Once you have signed up for a shift(s), you will be contacted by our Volunteer Coordinator with further instruction as well as the location of your shift(s). If you have any questions, email [email protected] or call 336.430.6070 x2.
