Hello wonderful SPA families and community volunteers,
**Update: We will all meet at the Lower School at 9am for the work party. We have a small crew, so will work as one team to power through the work at the Lower School, then move over to the middle school garden for the rest of the day.**
This summer is going to be very busy around St. Paul's Academy! There are a few construction projects scheduled for completion over the summer, and we're looking for some generous volunteers to help get the sites ready for our crews to come in and work.
This is a great opportunity to log some volunteer hours as this WILL count toward the volunteer service hour requirement for the 2018-2019 school year.
You are warmly invited to join in our group work parties on Friday, July 13th. There will be work to do at two different locations: the Lower School back parking lot and the new school garden space nextdoor to Markell Hall, the middle school building.
As you can see from the photos above, both sites need help. The goal for the new fencing at Lower School is to enhance the look and safety of the back area of the playground / parking lot, and help prevent dumping and tagging on our property in the future. The garden project includes building a gate between the school parking lot and the garden, and will be an outdoor classroom space available to all school divisions. Both projects include pulling weeds, cutting back overgrowth, and bagging debris for disposable. Not glamorous jobs, but very much needed so that our beautiful new fences can be built.
Trucks and drivers are needed to haul debris to the dump. There's currently an old mattress and broken treadmill in the way at the lower school, and years of compost and overgrowth at the garden site.
Bring your own tools and gloves! Water and light snacks will be provided. All groups will take a break from 1pm - 2pm.
Please come for a couple of hours or the whole day! Additional work parties may be scheduled if we don't finish all in one day. Email Heather Carter directly at [email protected] if you have questions or would like to be notified directly of other work parties coming up this summer.
