EarthCare Sky Watching May 16

Astronomy in the Park, presented by the San Antonio Astronomical Association, is the longest running public star party in the San Antonio Metro area. We’ll join them on Wednesday May 16, from 7:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. in the parking lot at Raymond Rimkus Park, 6440 Evers Rd, Leon Valley Texas, 78240. You do not need to be a member of the club or own any astronomical equipment to attend. All you need is an interest in the wonders of the Universe. This event is free to the public.

Preparation for the observing session begins at home. Dress appropriately for the time of year! Please check the weather forecast. For lighting, cover a flashlight in red cellophane (darker the better). Bring along water to keep hydrated. Please dim your vehicles headlights when arriving and departing.

Feel free to walk around and enjoy the sights through the equipment on display but please ask the owner before using. It’s best to control children around expensive astronomical equipment. Pets should not be brought onto the observing field.

Register here, and Earthcare Team Leader, David Cordova will send you more details about the event via email.
